Love Headwaves! Especially Mel Garcia. He is the best! Everyone is friendly and helpful.
Ive been a client of Janine for about 15 years. Shes the best stylist ever! Ive had cuts, hi-lights, and yesterday she gave me a perm as Im wanting to grow it out after losing it from chemo a year ago. Over the years Ive brought in photos of what Id want my hair to look like and she always listens and will let me know realistically what I can or cant expect because of my hair type. I highly recommend Janine. Headwaves is a great salon, the owner is always welcoming and the vibe is very chill.
I am just going to describe my experience⦠because it speaks for itself.\nI live 25 minutes across town. I used to live in the area and always wanted to try this place for a treatment and cut. I called on Wednesday the 14th and asked about availability tomorrow (Thursday the 15th) or next week. The receptionist was bubbly and gracious so I had high hopes! She asked various stylists about fitting me in. They were busy and she couldnât find a stylist with an immediate answer so I agreed to have someone reach out when availability was found and get on schedule. No big deal at all. Shortly after that a stylist reached out via text, introduced herself, and said she could see me tomorrow (Thursday the 15th at 5:00pm). I booked and decided to work remotely from a friendâs house on that day because she lives in the area. That meant Iâd only have to drive 5 minutes in the latter part of the day to get to my appointment. When I arrived I was shown the bathroom, smock room etc and the chair where I would sit and wait for my stylistâ¦who was ânot in yetâ. I like to think I am forgiving and patient and had no problem sitting to wait for awhile, but then ten minutes passed. Another ten minutes passed⦠Nobody else had spoken to me since I had sat down and I was beginning to look around the room to indicate concern.\nAfter 25 minutes of waiting, and I am not exaggerating, I asked the receptionist if my stylist was going to make it. She called the stylist who was still at home. The stylist said over speaker phone to me and the receptionist that she thought my appointment was for tomorrow the 16th⦠I showed the receptionist on my phone the irrefutable text from the stylist from the day before indicating that my appointment had been confirmed by her as for today at 5pm. She apologized but that was that. They seemed to think offering the next day was going to assuage meâ¦but I donât have availability and that is why I scheduled for today not the next day. A gentleman on my way out apologized as well.\nI have to be honest⦠I thought the whole thing was handled too casually. I was not offered a free anything or even a discount should I choose to reschedule, no manager came over or called, the stylist did not try to make any further amends. âIâm sorry that that happenedâ is appreciated but doesnât really make up for the inconvenience and the disrespectful waste of someoneâs time. I had hoped that the stylist just couldnât make it in because of the random spring snow. THAT I can understand⦠but I have written proof of confirmation for an appointment that was simply not attended.\nIts just a hair cut, but professionally I am not sure that I would recommend this place. Appointments are important on both ends- because stylists time and service is important and valued, and so should the customers time and choice of service be valued. That was a great way to lose a new customer and gain a poor review. I appreciate the apologies, but this was a really disappointing experience.
Mel did an excellent job with my hair. He is exceptionally skilled and friendly. The shop was clean and covid safe.
Ive been going to Janine for 25 years. Shes the best - a great listener and a talented colorist and stylist. Headwaves is a welcoming, clean, and comfortable environment. I recommend Janine in particular and Headwaves in general!
